Doula
What's the difference between a Birth Doula and a Childbirth Educator?
A birth doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a birthing person before, during, and shortly after childbirth. The role of a birth doula is to ensure that you feel empowered, informed, and supported throughout your birthing experience. This role is one rooted in consistent relationships and unconditional respect, it also becomes a very close relationship so choosing a doula you connect with is important. My training and certification is through DONA International and requires continuous training and recertification for eligibility. Please see About Me to find out if I’m the right doula for you!

Birth doulas offer:

-
Emotional Support: They provide constant reassurance, encouragement, and a calming presence, helping you manage the emotional ups and downs of labor.

-
Physical Comfort: They use techniques such as massage, positioning, and breathing exercises to help ease pain and facilitate labor progress.

-
Informational Support: They offer evidence-based information about childbirth, helping you understand your options and make informed decisions.

-
Advocacy: They assist in communicating your preferences to your healthcare team, ensuring your birth plan is respected as much as possible.

-
Partner Support: They support not only the birthing person but also their partner, helping them feel involved and confident in their role.
